Final countdown for hit40uk

National chart show hit40uk is being replaced by The Big Top 40 Show, and will feature real time chart positions from downloads at the iTunes Store.

The show also has new presenters with Rich Clarke and Kat Snoob taking over the countdown, which will continue to be made by Global Radio and broadcast each Sunday at 4pm. It will air on both Heart and Galaxy stations, Global's Hit Music Network, Bauer's Big City stations and GMG's Real Radio from June 14th.
The chart will be made up of airplay and download sales, with the top ten being driven by the latest live iTunes chart. The show will also feature the latest music news, new artist recommendations and interviews.
Richard Park, Director of Broadcasting, Global Radio, said: “In a historic move, commercial radio has aligned the UK’s biggest chart show with the current music download movement, making the first ever totally interactive chart where the listener decides! With 90 percent of sales in the UK’s official chart now being from downloads alone, it's important we reflect the new future of purchasing music, and there is no more significant partner than iTunes.”
Rich Clarke, The Big Top 40 Show host said, “This is my dream come true. It’s exciting times ahead for chart music and I can’t wait to watch those hits rise and fall during the new Big Top 40 Show!”
