Ofcom cares for the community

Ofcom has granted three new community radio licences. This takes the number of community radio licences awarded by the media regulator to over 200 since community radio was introduced in 2004.

The three latest licences have gone to HCR FM (Huntingdon), a music and local new service, Intobeats (Bedford), an urban music-based service for 14-35 year olds and AHBS Community Radio (Ashford, Kent). The latter aimed directly at those involved in healthcare.
Licences are awarded for a five-year period.
