West Somerset licence available

Ofcom has today invited declarations of intent to apply for the FM local commercial radio licence for West Somerset. The licence is currently held by Quay West Radio Ltd, it expires in August 2010.

The media regulator is proposing to extend the licence for the area, to run from August 2010 to the end of 2015. Interested applicants need to file their paperwork by the 1st of June.
In related news, Ofcom received one declaration of intent for the South East Staffordshire local commercial radio licence from the current licensee, Centre Broadcasting Ltd (broadcasting as Touch Radio). Therefore, Touch have been invitedto re-apply for the licence under the media regulator’s 'fast-track' procedure.
It’s a similar story in Basingstoke where the local FM commercial radio licence has been re-awarded to current licensee, Kestrel FM Ltd.
