Hertbeat suffers arrhythmia

Due to a broken transmitter, Hertbeat FM is off air today on its southern 106.9FM frequency that covers Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Hertford and Ware. The Old Knebworth-based station's other frequency, 106.7FM is unaffected.

Breakfast show DJ Steve Folland told the Welwyn and Hatfield Times: "We're not off air, but we've got a problem with one of the transmitters.

"People have even been late for work as they set us as their alarm, yet they obviously couldn't hear anything when they went off!"

The station hopes to have the problem fixed later today.
