A student from Nottingham has won the gig to be the new male voice-over for Radio 1.
David Walker originally entered a competition to be the voice of the Student Radio Awards ceremony but came second place. He was then spotted by one of the judges from Radio 1 who asked him if he'd like to compete as a possible new voice for the national network.
"He asked me if I'd like to try out to be the new station voice of Radio 1, so a few months later I had an audition and thankfully was successful. I'm now the male voice for all their daytime production. I've been to the studios to record it all. When you hear snippets such as 'This is Radio 1', it's me!," David told the Nottingham Evening Post.
