Annual SBES event cancelled

The annual Sound Broadcasting Equipment Show, otherwise known as SBES, has been cancelled this year due to lack of bookings.

The event website, SBES.com simply states that the show has been cancelled. One exhibitor, who has been in touch with Radio Today, says how saddened he is with the loss of the show, and is waiting to hear if his initial payments will be returned after he received a letter saying the organiser has gone into administration..
SBES 2009 would have been the thirty-fourth Sound Broadcasting Equipment Show, providing an exhibition of equipment and services for the radio, internet broadcasting and location sound recording industry.

Point Promotions' Dave McVittie said: "Despite many promises of support and encouragement from previous exhibitors and having assessed the level of bookings to date for SBES 2009, we believe it highly unlikely that we will achieve the level of bookings necessary for a successful show – we suspect that this is due to current economic uncertainties. Therefore, with great regret, we are exercising the company's option to cancel the exhibition."
