Viking grants Hull its freedom

96.9 Viking FM will be in Hull City Centre this weekend with the Freedom Festival. The station has worked in conjunction with Hull City Council among others to help bring ‘Freedom Goes Pop!’ to fruition.

Taking place over two stages, it’ll form part of the overall Freedom Festival and feature such artists as The Saturdays, Pixie Lott, Florence And The Machine, JLS and Peter Andre.

BBC Radio Humberside's Raw Talent programme will be in evidence at the city’s Queen's Gardens on Sunday, introducing bands to the stage and broadcasting performances by local acts.

On the same day, 96.9 Viking FM, Magic 1161, KCFM and BBC Radio Humberside will cover the start of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. The festival was launched last year to celebrate the city's links with anti-slavery champion William Wilberforce.
