Wire and Kingdom FM renewed

Ofcom has re-awarded the local FM licenses for Warrington and Fife to the current respective licensees.

Wire FM, which is owned by UTV Radio and broadcasts to Warrington, Widnes and Runcorn, and Fife FM, owned by Kingdom Radio Ltd based in Fife, both have their licence extended to December 31st 2015 under Ofcom's fast-track process.
In other news, Ofcom has invited declarations of intent to apply for the FM local commercial radio licence for Abroath. The licence is currently held by Radio North Angus Ltd and is due to expire in November 2010. The closing-date for the receipt of declarations of intent from prospective licence applicants is 3.00pm on Monday 05 October 2009.
The licences owned by Trax FM in Bassetlaw and Oak FM in Hinckley are also up for re-advertisement with the same closing date for interested parties.
In addition, the regulator has received one declaration of intent for the Chesterfield local commercial radio licence, from the current licensee, Grand Central Radio Ltd (broadcasting as Peak FM). Ofcom is therefore inviting the incumbent licensee to re-apply for the licence under the fast-track procedure.
