GMG Radio stations join forces

All 13 radio stations owned by GMG will join together on November 10th in aid of the Help for Heroes Day.
All brands, Smooth Radio, Real Radio and Rock Radio will air special programmes to raise money for Britain’s wounded soldiers.

GMG Radio will be asking listeners to fundraise or donate on the day. As well as an auction and high-profile guests, there will be inspirational stories from injured troops telling how they are rebuilding their lives. The group also has celebrity endorsements from Robbie Williams, Cheryl Cole, Alexandra Burke, The Stereophonics and Katie Price.
In other upcoming programming features, Real Radio will broadcast "Websafe", a major internet safety campaign aimed at educating parents about some of the dangers of the internet. More than 4,000 teenagers have taken part in the study and it will be broadcast to coincide with Anti-Bullying Week.
The group is also planning a week of lifestyle-led news and programming to coincide with the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December. Reporting teams in the UK will be investigating whether people are switched on by the issue of climate change and following families as they make changes to their lives to help the planet.
GMG Radio’s Chief Executive Stuart Taylor said: “These programme initiatives further reflect our commitment to our listeners, delivering topical and compelling radio on issues that affect our everyday lives. It also gives us a chance to show our support to our troops, especially those wounded during the conflict.”
