North Norfolk Radio goes South

Ofcom has approved a Format change request from North Norfolk Radio to co-locate with Radio Norwich and share all programmes outside breakfast.

The station, with a potential audience of under 40,000 adults, will continue with local commercials, news and information.

The request by group brand director David Rees says the stations share many similarities: "The North Norfolk Radio MCA is under 40,000 with Radio Norwich just at 290,000 MCA. Station formats and audience profiles are almost the same. Programme presentation style is very similar and both stations music has been the same for over 18 months."

He continues: "We believe the request, if granted by Ofcom, would have a significant positive impact on the viability of the station."

Ofcom was happy to grant the request, saying that station is precisely the sort of station that was front of mind when Ofcom’s co-location and programme sharing guidelines were published.
