Fuss over Dune co-presenter

Users on an online Southport forum are wondering why Dune FM's breakfast show co-presenter has walked out on the station.

Karen Johnson left the station suddenly last month, saying she was unappreciated.

The [link=http://www.southportforums.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=50419975]Southport Forum[/link] reports: "In the 19 months of working there, despite various promises of looking into paying her, the most Dune ever paid was £60 per month expenses. These expenses were revoked when they gave her a branded car to drive around in advertising Dune. Last Monday (25th Jan) the car was taken from her and that was the last straw. Feeling like she needed some self pride, Karen packed up her desk and walked away.

"She was contacted just an hour ago and was asked to return her Dune FM jacket."

Programme Controller of Dune, Phil Johnson commented “She was keen to stay on to develop her broadcasting skills and we were delighted to have her. In 18 months she became a fixture on the Breakfast Show and alongside broadcasting legend Brendan Kearney she brought her inimitable style to breakfast.

“We know our listeners enjoyed Karen’s contributions to the breakfast show and she made the weekly ‘Boogie Nights’ slot her own. We were surprised when Karen took the sudden decision to leave Dune. Nevertheless, Karen is a passionate ambassador for Southport, and we sincerely wish her well with whatever she decides to do next”.
