Technical Problems at Radio 4

BBC Radio has apologised for a technical problem which replaced the output of Radio 4 with that of 6 Music.

It comes just days after the wrong shipping forecast was broadcast, and a repeat of the Now show was aired instead of a new show.

The mistake happened on Thursday evening, when forum posters were [link=http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1231863]quick[/link] to complain about the sudden blast of new music and 6 Music idents for presenter Marc Riley.

One poster said: "[i]Marc Riley didn't make an attempt to explain what happened in a technical sense, but he was clearly laughing about it. He said that they'd been broadcasting "guerrilla radio" and seemed to claim that he hadn't really known that he was on Radio 4 at the time.

"The best thing was hearing him trying to explain The Archers to the uncomprehending (American) band member in the studio at the time (from the Magnetic Fields)."[/i]

The switch happened during the news at 7pm, with The Archers re-appearing a few minutes later. You can hear the audio on the [link=http://radiofail.tk/]radiofail website[/link].

On Tuesday, the 5:20am shipping forecast from Monday was broadcast which promoted a "such mistakes do not meet the standards our listeners rightly expect" comment from the BBC.

And just days earlier the wrong edition of the Now Show was aired, also due to a "technical error".
