talkSPORT in Rugby radio first

talkSPORT has secured the rights to the exclusive radio commentary for the Rugby World Cup 2011.

It will be the only UK radio station with live coverage of the IRB Rugby World Cup 2011, which starts in September 2011 and last for around six weeks.

It is the first time a UK commercial radio station has acquired exclusive radio commentary rights for an international sporting event of this stature.

Scott Taunton, talkSPORT chief executive said: “I’m delighted that we have won the rights to provide exclusive radio commentary for Rugby World Cup 2011. This announcement reinforces talkSPORT’s growing reputation as the UK’s most exciting live sports broadcaster.

Moz Dee, talkSPORT’s programme director added: "Our programming team are hugely excited about covering this tournament exclusively for the first time. Watch this space for some exciting new names and signings to the station that will help us bring this tournament alive. I'm also delighted to be working with Mark Sibley and the team at IMG. It’s been a pleasure dealing with them and we look forward to our partnership in 2011."
