More football for BBC Essex

BBC Essex has signed a new deal to provide football commentary on every Colchester United and Southend United league and cup matches.

The deal covers every home and away game for the 2010-2011 season and commenced last weekend.

BBC Essex's Glenn Speller presents the station's sports output alongside a team of commentators, providing analysis and discussion on the talking points of the day.

Commentary on both teams' games will feature in the BBC Essex Sport programme on Saturdays from 2-6pm, with special weekday evening programmes to follow the teams' progress in the midweek fixtures.

Martyn Weston, managing editor, BBC Essex, says: "BBC Essex is the only radio station covering local sport in the county and we're pleased to offer full match commentary of every Colchester and Southend United game, home and away."

He continues: "We're the station fans turn to for all the action, both on and off the pitch, thanks to our strong relationships with the clubs. We're really excited about the season ahead."

Colchester United games will be heard on 103.5FM whilst Southend United games will air on 95.3FM.
