Radio 3 covers London Jazz

The London Jazz Festival will be featured in even more detail on BBC Radio 3 this year, as the station broadcasts more of the event than ever before.

From 12 November, performances will be featured throughout Radio 3's schedule, on Jazz On 3, Jazz Line-Up, World Routes and In Tune.

Jazz Voice, a dazzling celebration of song featuring vocal stars from the worlds of jazz, soul and rock; South African legends Hugh Masekela and Louis Moholo-Moholo; Blue Note artist Robert Glasper; and BBC New Generation Artist Shabaka Hutchings are among the broadcast highlights.

There will also be special London Jazz Festival-themed Jazz Record Requests and Jazz Library programmes, bringing the London Jazz Festival to a wider audience.

Roger Wright, Controller of Radio 3, says: "Radio 3 aims to offer the very best of contemporary jazz and our partnership with the London Jazz Festival gets stronger every year. We're excited to be broadcasting more concerts than ever before and hope the depth and variety of our coverage will enthuse and entertain listeners."

Additionally, Jamie Cullum will continue to showcase jazz on his Radio 2 show, plus interviews with vocalist José James, pianist Jef Neve, American composer Maria Schneider and guitarist Martin Taylor.
