Vanessa Feltz is the new host of the Radio 2's Early Breakfast Show, Bob Shennan, controller of Radio 2 confirmed to RadioToday.co.uk.
The BBC London 94.9 presenter will also continue to host her weekday mid-morning show in the capital when she starts her new national show from January 17th next year.
The show is currently hosted by Richard Allinson after Sarah Kennedy left earlier this year.
Speaking to Radio Today at the Promotions and Marketing Awards yesterday evening, where he was giving out two awards, Bob Shennan confirmed the appointment after speculation in the Media Guardian.
He said: "As well as being an accomplished and prize-winning radio presenter, Vanessa has a huge zest and passion for life in general, making her the perfect early morning show host. I'm convinced that she'll be the ideal companion to the millions of our earlybird listeners."
Vanessa will be on-air each weekday from 5am till 630am, just before Chris Evans. She said: "I'm utterly thrilled to be handing over to Chris Evans every morning – it's my idea of the perfect start to the day."
