Ewen Cameron gets Galloway gig

Ewen Cameron is to take over the Real Radio Scotland breakfast show, after Robin Galloway and his producer left the station last month.

Cameron currently hosts the Real Football Phone-In on the station and has been with the station for more than 8 years.

Ewen will take over the show and co-present with Cat Harvey.

Scottish football legend Alan Rough will remain as pundit on the Football Phone-In and GMG say a replacement for Ewen will be announced in due course.

Ewen says: "This is a fantastic opportunity to host the Breakfast Show on Scotland’s No.1 commercial radio station and one that I’m honoured to take. I am really looking forward to working with Cat. We’ve presented the show together before and I know we are going to have great fun with it. Early mornings shouldn’t be too much of a problem for me; with three boys at home, the youngest just 15 months, I am used to a lack of sleep!"

He added: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Football Phone In, but now I will get the chance to actually go and watch the football, instead of just talk about it! However I won’t be leaving football on-air altogether, as I’ll still present the live match-day commentary for Real Radio and I’ll be taking my boys along to see my beloved Hearts as often as I can."

Robin Galloway and producer Barrie Hodge were let go by Real Radio following a practical joke that went wrong where Robin had challenged Barrie to streak past a studio where Labour leader Ed Miliband was being interviewed.

Gavin Bruce, Managing Director of Real Radio said: "Ewen’s enthusiasm, experience and understanding of the Real Radio audience, makes him the perfect choice for the show. Ewen epitomises the fun, family ethos of Real Radio and we look forward to hearing Ewen and Cat on-air in the New Year."

Micky Gavin will continue to cover the breakfast show until January when he'll go back to his own slot on evenings.
