More sharing for Sussex stations

Sussex radio stations Splash, Sovereign, Bright and Arrow have been given permission to share all programmes across the stations, Ofcom has announced.

At present each of their formats only allows 6 of the 10 locally-made hours of programming per day to be shared between owner Media Sound Holdings other stations in the county.

In its application to Ofcom, Media Sound Holdings said: "All the stations are located within Sussex and therefore there is a huge amount of shared interest programming. Indeed the stations currently already share all programming outside of breakfast, so these changes will not substantially alter the character of the service. All output will still be broadcast from within the Ofcom approved area."

The request was approved last month, with details only just made public. Splash in Worthing, Bright in Burgess Hill, Sovereign in Eastbourne and Arrow in Hastings have already brought in a shared breakfast show presented by Chris Copsey.
