Niocom sells Dune 107.9

Southport's local commercial radio station Dune 107.9 has been sold to a local community radio group.

The station, which shares all programmes with Preston's Central Radio, has been bought by Southport Community Radio for an unknown amount.

RadioToday.co.uk understands the deal does not include Central Radio, even though the two stations are co-located and run the same programme schedule.

Southport Community Radio, headed by former Radio City presenter Jon Jessop, had previously been rejected a community radio licence by Ofcom in February 2008 after operating numerous temporary RSLs in the town.
