AJ King is Kiss Chosen One
Bauer Radio's Kiss has announced the winner of its talent search competition as AJ King – a 28 year old student and part-time DJ from Wembley. He beat thousands of hopefuls in the 8-week competition to win a slot on the youth station's line-up.
Radio 2 revives comedy award
BBC Radio 2 is reviving the corporation's New Comedy Award and is searching for the nation's next big stand-up talent. Express FM takes BBC commentary
BBC Radio Solent has agreed for a community radio station to re-broadcast its commentary of all Portsmouth FC games. Express FM and the local BBC station will each provide their own match build up, but join together for kick-off, in what is thought to be a unique arrangement.
Celebs join Heart for appeal
Global Radio's Heart stations are running a charity appeal week to support children's hospices across the UK. The Have a Heart week started this morning and will feature endorsements from celebrities including Westlife, Alexandra Burke, JLS and Dame Helen Mirren.
Clyde's Bowie on the move
Clyde 1 breakfast presenter George Bowie is taking his show on the road for a week of 'Live on Location' specials across Glasgow. Celebrity guests including girlband Wonderland will join him out and about across the city as listeners get the chance to watch the show live from locations such as the railway station concourse.
Moyles to do longest R1 show
Breakfast presenter Chris Moyles and sidekick Comedy Dave are to attempt to present Radio 1's longest ever show next month to raise money for Comic Relief. They'll start the programme at 6.30am on Wednesday 16 March and aim to beat Simon Mayo's 37 hours in 1999.
Trust approves series stacking
The BBC Trust has approved what they are calling Series Stacking for radio – meaning more content will be available via the iPlayer for Radio. Normally, only the previous seven days programmes are available for "listen again" but this move makes an entire series available.
Former Forth team reunite
More than 60 former staff from Edinburgh's Radio Forth got together for a dinner earlier in the week for a reunion. The 'Forth Formers Get-together' featured old faces who came from as far away as Australia – as well as from all over the UK.
North West media awards return
Radio stations in the North West of England are invited for the forth year running to submit a free entry to the How Do Media Industry Awards. The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 11th, with an awards dinner taking place in Manchester on May 26th.
Clyde installs studio in Kenya
Clyde Broadcasts' work with the Kenyan Institute of Education was given the Presidential seal of approval during the recent visit of Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki. The Glasgow-based radio company has recently installed new radio equipment for the African institute.
