Signal pies raise charity cash

Signal 1 breakfast presenters Perry and Louise have helped to raise thousands of pounds for charity with their own branded pies.

The team from the Stoke station worked with local firm Wright's Pies to put the creations on sale during British Pie week in aid of the Help a Signal Child appeal.

Louise concocted a cheese and onion filling, while Perry went for a more traditional beef and allorosso. “Louise and Onion” and “Perry’s Filler” went on sale in 14 Wright's stores across Staffordshire and Cheshire for the price of £1 each for one week. All proceeds go to Signal 1’s Help A Signal Child, which donates to various local charities helping disadvantaged children. The promotion was supported by full size shop dual branding window posters and in store displays.

By the end of the week a total of 2764 pies were sold and Perry’s Filler Pie was the run way winner selling 1462. Chairman Peter Wright was so delighted with the promotion he has donated £5000 to the charity.

Signal Radio’s Senior Programme Controller Chris Buckley told RadioToday.co.uk: "This was a perfect promotion and great local fun on air. Wright’s pies really got behind it and local people will benefit from the activity."
