IOW Radio team climb BT Tower

Topping and Coombes, the breakfast presenters at Isle of Wight Radio, broadcast live from the top of the BT Tower in London after climbing the 843 stairs inside.

The pair were invited to join yachtswomen and Isle of Wight resident Dame Ellen MacArthur on the challenge to raise money for cancer charities.

The breakfast show was broadcast live back to the Island then Topping and Coombes joined dozens of other fundraisers taking part in the BT Tower Challenge, which was in aid of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust and Barretstown, two charities which help rebuild confidence in young people affected by cancer.

Paul and Michael told RadioToday.co.uk: “It has been a fantastic day and a real sense of achievement, after 200 steps parts began to hurt but after the halfway point things got a little easier. We were proud to be asked and hope we have contributed to raising the awareness the two charities”.
