regional station Wave 105 has marked its 13th birthday and annual awards with the announcement of two internal promotions.
Programme Controller Andy Shier becomes Programme Director, while Jimmy Young is promoted to MultiMedia Solutions Manager.
The team from the station – which last month was named Music Week Regional Station of the Year and is nominated for the large station award at next week’s Arqivas – were told of the promotions during a celebratory night out.
Wave 105 Managing Director Martin Ball told RadioToday.co.uk: “Andy is an intuitive music programmer with a great ear combined with a strong sense for engaging content and he has led the team to deliver record reach, average hours, total hours and share. Considering the level of competitor activity in our market during the past couple of years, this is a great achievement, delivering our staunch anti-network strategy and cementing our position as the commercial market leader. Winning the Music Week Regional Station of the Year was a very welcome surprise but hard earnt.”
Martin added: “Jimmy has been a breath of fresh air during his time with Wave 105 and his inspired ideas combined with his relaxed yet business-like approach have a positive impact on clients.”
