Stray name change to highlight local appeal

UKRD’s 97.2 Stray FM in Harrogate has changed its name for the day to help promote the case of a local toddler fighting cancer.

The station has become ‘Sadie Rose’ to support the Sadie Rose Clifford appeal which is hoping to raise around £300,000 to send the little girl abroad for specialist treatment.

Sadie, from Knaresborough, is nearly two years old and has been battling Neuroblastoma since October last year. All day today (Wednesday), Stray FM presenters are highlighting the appeal and speaking to listeners who have already started fundraising.

Stray FM’s MD Sarah Barry told RadioToday.co.uk she felt compelled to help. “When I met Sadie’s parents and heard their heartbreaking story I knew we had to tell our listeners about Sadie’s illness and ask for their support,” she said. “We felt that re-naming the station would cut through and make our audience sit up and listen.”

The station will be called Sadie Rose until midnight tonight.
