Radio’s Donovan and Savage join Strictly

Heart’s Jason Donovan and 5 Live football phone-in host Robbie Savage are among the line-up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

One Show presenter Alex Jones – who was previously a regular co-host on Real Radio Wales – is also taking part along with a variety of celebrities from the worlds of sport, music and drama.

We’ll find out who the celebs are to be paired with for professional ballroom and latin dance coaching later this week, with the launch show airing on BBC One on Saturday night.

Savage won the Rising Star award at this year’s Sony Radio Academy Awards after joining BBC Radio Five Live as a presenter on the 606 show as his career as a footballer came towards its end.

Former Neighbours actor and 80s pop star Jason presents a Sunday afternoon show on Heart – previously he was on the GCap One Network on Sunday evenings. He also did cover work at BBC London.

Another radio name – Zoe Ball – is involved in this year’s Strictly too. Previously a contestant on the reality show, she’ll be fronting the BBC Two nightly spin-off ‘It Takes Two’ during the series.

Previous radio-related participants on the show include Radio 2’s Aled Jones, former Radio 2 host Gloria Hunniford, ex-Smooth Radio presenter Fiona Phillips, ex Radio 1 and 5 Live presenter DJ Spoony, Heart’s Emma Bunton, former 5 Live lunchtime host Gabby Logan, Capital FM’s Lisa Snowdon and Gethin Jones who’s just been announced as a presenter at Real Radio Wales.
