Operating profits increase 1% for UKRD

UKRD Group Chief Executive William Rogers has praised the teams at the company’s radio stations for delivering a further year on year improvement at the private radio group.

Operating profits are up 1% on the previous year and almost £1.4m has been delivered to group coffers.

The group, the fourth largest operator of licences across the country, owns and operates 16 local radio stations and has declared two dividends in the last six months.

Rogers told RadioToday.co.uk: “This is a great result for UKRD and is a testament to all those teams across our organisation who have continued to build on last years successes to produce some outstanding results,” he said.

“Local radio is an immensely powerful medium and these results confirm that with the right level of activity on the ground, even at difficult times, improving trading results are deliverable. The local radio model is far from broken and is turning in some great performances.”

The group, which acquired two more licences in the last financial year in Blackburn and Preston, also confirmed that revenues are looking stronger for the first quarter and that trading is holding up well.

“We expect trading to be fairly solid as we go through the first quarter and most of our stations are reporting improving trading results,” he said.

“UKRD has some great people and they are producing great results.”
