Audioboo content to create programmes

Social audio platform Audioboo has formed an alliance with independent production outfit Trevor Dann’s Company.

The partnership will allow TDC to compile and curate original radio programmes using Audioboo content.

We’re told the idea will integrate social media and user-generated content into mainstream radio production.

Mark Rock, founder and CEO of Audioboo, said: “I strongly believe online and social media represents the future of the radio industry. At Audioboo we are generating a high volume of broadcast-quality audio – this partnership with Trevor gives us the opportunity to begin to use this content in more creative ways.”

Trevor Dann said: “I’m delighted with this opportunity to explore the creative opportunities where curation meets production. Access to new and vibrant content is vital for the development of radio and we believe that the combination of Audiboo’s library and our programming expertise can create some exciting and innovative new formats.”

In its first year of operation, Trevor Dann’s Company is currently producing a 50-week series for BBC Radio 2, Sounds of the 20th Century. It has also been commissioned to make Radio 2011, a celebration of the year in UK radio for broadcast by BBC Radio 5 live on Christmas Day.

Trevor was formerly chief executive of the Radio Academy and has worked in radio for 30 years, including positions as Head of Radio 1 production and MD of Pop at Emap.
