Xmas RSL broadcast for Trent Sound

Nottingham-based online radio station Trent Sound has gone on air on FM for the first time in the city with a four-week RSL.

It sees former Radio Trent presenters including Andy Marriott, Len Groat, Jenni Costello, Craig Strong and Danny Cox back on air in the East Midlands.

Former Radio 1 producer and Radio Academy Chief Executive Trevor Dann will also appear live on the station on 23 December to talk about his life, work and Nottingham connections.

The temporary licence from Ofcom went live this morning (Monday) on 87.9FM and runs through to 8th January, with the station promising ‘great music, regular news and the latest local and community information’.

Director of Communications at Trent Sound, Magnus Shaw, told RadioToday.co.uk: “We feel it’s really important Nottingham has a truly local station that’s really in touch with the city and its communities. So we’re absolutely thrilled we will also be on FM at this important time of the year. We’ve pulled out all the stops to make Trent Sound a fabulous service and hope everyone will make it part of their Christmas and stay with us online beyond January.”

Trent Sound launched as an internet station in June this year. They were blocked from using the name ‘Trent FM’ by Global Radio who still own the trademark, despite rebranding their Nottingham station as Capital FM in January.
