Stray FM raises £8k to help local girl

Harrogate-based UKRD station Stray FM has raise just under £8,000 to help a local toddler who is fighting cancer.

2-year old Sadie Rose Clifford from Knaresborough needs life-saving treatment in America and her family have been appealing for help in raising £150,000 to pay for it.

Normal programming on Stray FM was dropped on Friday for 12 hours as listeners were asked to donate to the appeal. The day included a live link up to Sadie’s mum in New York who thanked everyone in Harrogate for their support – and a chat with 13 year old Alice who has raised £750 from her school friends.

Stray FM MD Sarah Barry told RadioToday.co.uk: “Sadie Rose is an amazing little girl and we knew we had to help her. We felt that if everybody gave a little bit of cash it could make a big difference. The support from our listeners this week has been extraordinary.”

Stray is also preparing to get bigger from later this week, with programming expected to go live on the former Fresh Radio frequencies covering Skipton, Richmond and the Yorkshire Dales on Wednesday morning at 6am.
