Isle of Wight Radio hosts Jubilee gig

Isle of Wight Radio has announced plans for a food and music festival on the weekend of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The event at Northwood Park on 4th June will be headlined by island group Level 42.

It’s the first time the grounds of Northwood House on the Isle of Wight has been used for a large outside event for several decades. Other local groups performing include The Operators and Goodbye Stereo.

The festival will be the first headline slot on the island for Level 42 since the early 90s, and will be raising money to support Newport-based Beaulieu House – a residential respite unit for children with learning difficulties. Level 42 frontman Mark King is a patron of the charity.

He said: “Wow! I’m so excited to be bringing the band back home for what will be a fantastic day for everyone. We’ll have the best of the Island’s music talent on show throughout the day, and in the most beautiful setting at Northwood House in Cowes. This will be the best Jubilee celebration on the Island, and knowing that the proceeds will be going to Beaulieu House Respite Care Centre is the icing on the Jubilee cake!”
