New logos and marketing for Real Radio

GMG Radio has unveiled new logos and websites for its Real Radio network.

The group is also launching a new major marketing campaign for the brand next month, the first new creative from Clear Marketing Communications since it won a pitch for the account last year.

The advertising on outdoor poster sites and bus backs will start from 16th April in Yorkshire, the North East, Scotland and Wales, while the North West campaign begins on 14th May to allow a new breakfast show team to settle in first. The campaign is themed around a ‘Put a Real smile on your face’ strapline.

Jonathan Gillespie, GMG Radio Group Commercial Director, said: “Our extensive research has provided a new marketing direction for the Real Radio brand and the underlying message of this campaign is that listening to Real can provide you with an everyday source of fun and positivity – in essence it makes you feel happier. We’ve refined our core demographic to the 30 something adult – a market not specifically targeted by most other stations. We’ve chosen media that reaches them at specific points in their day-to-day lives – whether it’s during their daily commute to work, on days out with the kids at attractions such as soft play centres, watching video on demand or browsing the web on sites we know they frequent.”

Andy Carter, GMG Radio’s Group Managing Director, added: “Real Radio is sounding better than ever and this significant investment in the brand will introduce or reintroduce the stations to a growing market of listeners who are increasingly finding that most stations don’t resonate with them. We look forward to adding to Real Radio’s 2.5 million listeners a week as the year progresses.”
