Global Radio’s Heart network is to play nothing but disco music all weekend, in tribute to Donna Summer and Robin Gibb who died in the last week.

The Celebration of Disco runs all day Saturday and Sunday with a special edition of Club Classics from 7pm too featuring the ‘ultimate disco party anthems.’

The Heart stations will also have special sections on their websites featuring photo galleries, videos of the top ten disco tunes and features on the history of the genre.

Global Radio’s Director of Broadcasting Richard Park said: “Donna Summer and Robin Gibb helped bring disco to the world and change pop music forever. All weekend, every song we play will be a disco classic as we celebrate their music in true Heart style.”

Will there be any discernible difference between this and the usual “music variety” I wonder.

Poor old Robin. Barely cold in his grave and already reduced to being classed as a disco artist. Ever tried dancing to “New York Mining Disaster”? The Brothers Gibb gave us SO much more than disco music. So do the job properly or don’t do it at all.
