Radio Production Award nominations out

The nominations have been announced for this year’s Radio Production awards.

Now in their third year and organised by The Radio Academy and the Radio Independents Group, the awards recognise the work of UK-based radio and audio producers, and are open to independents, freelancers and programme-makers working across BBC, commercial, community, student and hospital radio, as well as those in digital companies making online radio and podcasts.

There’s a new category this year – Producer of the Year – with the winner being selected by a committee of judges based on the best of all the entries.

The awards will be handed out on 12th July at a ceremony in London hosted by Jon Holmes.

John Myers, Chief Executive of The Radio Academy, said: “There is a huge wealth of talent within radio production and these awards recognise the very best. The Radio Production Awards are different because they celebrate the unsung heroes behind the scenes who ensure the exceptional output of radio stations across the country.

“I would like to congratulate everyone nominated – you are all stars and, as a former radio presenter myself, your work should not go unnoticed or unrecognised.”

Mike Hally, Chair of the Radio Independents Group, said: “It’s great to see these awards coming around for the third time already and going from strength to strength, with a plethora of new names joining more established ones on the list of nominees. In difficult economic times, for radio as much as any other sector, it’sreassuring to see such a range of talent represented here and to know that, in terms of quality at least, radio is thriving.”
