Smooth Radio returns to Liverpool waterfront

Smooth Radio is to hold another evening of music and entertainment on Liverpool’s waterfront.

The free gig, which has room for 8,000 people, will see performances from Nell Bryden, Russell Watson & Paul Carrack.

Smooth Radio’s presenters will host the event with Liverpool City Council from 6 till 10:30pm on July 21st, at which British rock/folk/indie trio Honey Ryder, and singer/songwriters Scarlette Fever and Ben Montague will also appear.

GMG Radio’s Group Programme Director John Simons told us: “Over the last year we have hosted some amazing Love Live Music events with artists including Rumer, Katie Melua, Lady Antebellum, Adele and Will Young and Nell Bryden have performed at events across the UK this week. But this is our biggest one yet and will give over 8,000 people the chance to see some of Smooth Radio’s favourite artists performing live and for free.”

Liverpool City Council’s cabinet member for culture and tourism, Councillor Wendy Simon said: “We’re delighted to be able to announce such a strong line-up which I’m sure will be a big hit with music lovers everywhere”.

‘Love Live Music on the Waterfront’ is part of Liverpool City Council’s series of waterfront events with two nights of outstanding live music – from the pure class of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic on Friday 20th July to Smooth Radio’s mix of respected artists on Saturday 21st July.

Smooth Radio is currently at the centre of takeover rumours, along with parent company GMG Radio. An announcement on a possible sale of the Guardian’s radio division is thought to be expected this week, according to reports.
