Iain Lee gets Three Counties breakfast

Former Absolute Radio presenter and 11 O’Clock Show host Iain Lee is joining BBC Three Counties Radio.

He’ll host the breakfast show on the BBC local radio station covering Herts, Beds and Bucks from next month, after covering some recent shows.

Iain left Absolute Radio in October 2011 after he and the station “regrettably and mutually” decided not to continue with his late night show.

But he told RadioToday.co.uk that he’s looking forward to his new show: “I’m very pleased to have been invited to be the host of the breakfast show on BBC 3CR. While the prospect of getting up at 4am for an extended period is slightly daunting, I am excited to be given this opportunity to do something a little different from my previous radio output. It’s also an honour to work for the mighty BBC.”

Previously, Iain spent three years at LBC 97.3 and has also worked at Xfm along with managing his own podcast.

Great news. I had the pleasure of Iain calling into my live talk show that I did from my bedroom and he is one of the most honest and down to earth presenters out there. I knew he would drop the crazy phone in stuff eventually and go a bit more serious so am looking forward to hearing him. He is following in the footsteps of his idol Tommy Boyd.

This is brilliant news for the 3 counties. The extra choice that’s long overdue. Great person for the job. Very exciting.

Awsome news, he’s a breath of fresh air and one of the great new generation of talk radio stars. Some old timers might not like it but this could really help bbc local radio be more accessible to the under 80s

Iain Lee is great with all age groups. In his LBC life he had elderly people right down to children phoning in. He treats everyone equally. An exciting and honest presenter

Good luck to Ian on his new show. He has a spark with his audience regardless of what radio station he is on. I do miss hearing his tones on my wireless.

I have read this person has been on many radio stations XFM how long did he last, why did they mutually get rid of him on Absolute Radio and a sudden depart from LBC. He called in to radio 5 and upset Dwain Chambers and his family and upset the radio presenter,

Sprinter Dwain Chambers is to make a formal complaint to the BBC
after he was the victim of an abusive prank call by the comedian Iain
Lee during a phone-in on Radio 5 Live.

Iain Lee rang a phone-in hosted by
Victoria Derbyshire on Monday and, posing as a member of the public called
‘Tony’, accused Chambers, who served a two-year ban for taking
performance-enhancing drugs, of being “whacked up to the eyeballs on
goof balls”. He then went on and said he would buy his book and burn it, Tony was found out to be Iain Lee doing what he loves boring dull pranks.

He upset Dwain and his Family and rude on BBC radio 5 going under a false name, the bbc must be cash strapped to allow someone who was rude on another bbc radio show.

I agree with DBALL Comment, this man uses airwaves to prank people, he did upset Dwain Chambers and Victoria Derbyshire, I liked Three Counties radio Breakfast Show, I do not want the kids that follow him destroy the good of BBC radio Three Counties because it is a good station, but I shall not listen to Three Counties anymore – the BBC are wrong allowing someone who was rude on BBC radio 5 pranking with a false name ‘Tony’ to be rue and think he was funny when no one else apart from the kids that listen to him think he is funny. The BBC listen fee payers pay and the listeners rule and I feel the buttons and dials will be pressed and turned when Iain Lee goes live on BBC Three Counties.
