Swindon FM presenter Ron Travolta dies

Ron Travolta, Swindon 105.5FM’s breakfast presenter has died at the age of 55.

He suffered a heart attack yesterday morning and passed away shortly afterwards in hospital.

Ron, whose real name was Ron Inglis was a well-known DJ in the town, would have been celebrating his birthday today too – with his fiancée and two children.

Fellow presenter Trevor Smith told us: “Ron sadly passed away suddenly – he had been with the station from the outset and played a pivitol role is setting up the station and also ran all of the technical side of the station.”

His wife-to-be Shirley, who is station manager of Swindon 105.5FM led the tributes to him: “He was just larger than life,” Shirley told the Swindon Advertiser. “He was very passionate and dedicated to what he did – if he said he would do something he would always do it right. I think he tried to hide it but he was a big softie inside.

“I didn’t think I would marry again but I think trust is a very important thing and Ron was also a friend. He would always make me laugh.

“It would have been his birthday today too and I had bought him a Manchester City shirt with Ron and number one on the back – he was mad about them. It’s sad he will never see it now.

“He will be sorely missed by everyone.”
