Clare Balding will be presenting her first radio shows for BBC Radio 2 in January, taking over Good Morning Sunday.
Aled Jones has presented the show for six years, after replacing long-running host Don Maclean. The BBC says Jones will continue to work on radio projects, including a new musical series, as well as presenting ITV’s weekday Daybreak programme.
Controller of BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music, Bob Shennan, said: “Clare is a much-loved, top quality live broadcaster who thrives on engaging with people from all walks of life. I’m sure she will be a big hit on the show as we continue to embrace the rich mix of faith and spirituality that Good Morning Sunday listeners know and love.
Clare Balding said: “I grew up listening to Terry Wogan on Radio 2 with my Mum and I couldn’t be prouder to join a station that boasts a host of brilliant, iconic broadcasters. I am thrilled to be asked to be a part of the Radio 2 family and look forward to sharing Sunday mornings with listeners who know their eggs from their onions, who enjoy music, conversation and sharing ideas.
