A prank by Hertfordshire’s 106 JACK fm has made the headlines in at least two national newspapers and online around the world.
A man known as The Budgie Smuggler wearing nothing but JACK branded speedos has been roaming public places around Stevenage giving away tickets. He’s been caught on camera and posted on Twitter, and the local police almost arrested him at one point.
Steve Folland from JACK told us: “We decided to take The Fugitive style idea that’s been done everywhere and really strip it back – and this is where it took us. A 5 foot five, 16 stone chap with Danny DeVito similarities running about in the grimmest September weather ever wearing just branded speedos across the day.”
The Daily Mail and Sun newspapers and more have reported on the action, designed to entice listeners away from Radio 1 following Chris Moyles’ departure.
