Real Radio in the North West has revealed the identity of the person hired to play the “Real Radio Renegade” for the last three years.

The planned reveal was made at a listener party on the final day of the competition, which has been played on-and-off since the station changed name from Century Radio to Real Radio in 2009.

Hundreds of listeners and station guests gathered in Manchester on Friday evening to find out the person the had been chasing is also know as Nick Camm – a professional actor. He’s made many stage appearances across the region in productions such as Of Mice and Men, Prime Pinter, Macbeth, The BFG and Kes. Television appearances include Hollyoaks, Waterloo Road, Between the Sheets, Emmerdale, Heartbeat, The Cops and Coronation Street.

What an amazing marketing stunt it became. Their target audience of young women would run around attempting to win “a share of the bounty”. Even I thought it was someone with military training after the supposed dinner date. Extremely clever to have an actor, who could play the role. Inspired and something which will be difficult to beat in my opinion.
