Harriet Scott hired by BBC London 94.9

Former Heart London breakfast co-host Harriet Scott is joining BBC London as a range of schedule changes are announced at the station.

Harriet arrives from Heart where she was part of the breakfast show in London for the past decade. She left to make way for Spice Girl Emma Bunton who takes over with Jamie Theakston in January. She’ll start her new daily show – Early Breakfast from 4am till 6am – on January 7th 2013.

In other changes at BBC London Paul Ross is getting a new co-host in Penny Smith, as Gaby Roslin leaves the breakfast show. Penny is a former GMTV presenter and journalist and says she’s looking forward to the early starts: “I am thrilled to be working at BBC London 94.9. As one of the few people I know who genuinely loves to get up at 4am, I also couldn’t have asked for a better show!”

David Robey, Managing Editor BBC London 94.9 FM, says: “I’m delighted that Penny is joining the BBC London 94.9 family. She is such a well-known and respected presenter and much admired for her years on the GMTV sofa. She’s a fantastic addition to the BBC London 94.9 morning line-up with Vanessa Feltz following.”

In the afternoon, Danny Baker’s old show will be filled by Jo Good, who’s been covering it since he entertained the nation with his last show on November 1st. Jo previously presented the late show, which will be filled by Simon Lederman Monday to Thursday. Nikki Bedi becomes the voice of late night London from Friday to Sunday.
