Mike Sweeney joins Jane Garvey on 5 Live

Real Radio XS breakfast jock and former Key 103 host Mike Sweeney is teaming up with Woman’s Hour presenter Jane Garvey for a Radio Review of 2012.

The 5 Live show will air on Christmas Eve at 11pm when they pick out some of the best radio of 2012, and discuss the year and radio heroes with guests including Gillian Reynolds from the Daily Telegraph and Michael Hill from UK Radioplayer.

Geoff Lloyd, Victoria Derbyshire, Fearne Cotton, Ricky & Melvin, Luke Franks, John Myers, James Cridland, Maria Williams and Helen Zaltzman also feature in the two hour show.

Elsewhere on the Christmas schedule, Colin Murray presents two special programmes live from the edge of the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi, Lapland. At 7.30pm on Christmas Eve, Colin looks ahead to the seasonal football fixtures, then from 10am on Christmas Day he meets families enjoying Finnish-style celebrations, as well as linking people all around the world with Christmas greetings.

And on Christmas Day at 1pm Greg James, plus England cricketers Jimmy Anderson and Graham Swann return for a Christmas edition of Not Just Cricket with quizzes, music and light-hearted chat. The show features special guests including Ed O’Brien from Radiohead and Felix White from The Maccabees.

In a one hour special on 28th December at 6pm, Hillsborough: Faith and Justice, Shelagh Fogarty speaks to the Bishop of Liverpool, the Right Revered James Jones, who chaired the Hillsborough Independent Panel.

And Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and Marc Woods present Tanni and Marc’s Paralympic Feast on 30th December at 11am, with a look back at a summer of Paralympic action. Among their guests will be gold medallists David Weir and Sarah Storey.
