All this week, Global Radio’s LBC 97.3 is teaming up with Help for Heroes for special programming and fundraising.
Throughout the week, LBC 97.3 presenters including Nick Ferrari, James O’Brien, Julia Hartley-Brewer and Iain Dale will be joined by injured service personnel, senior military figures and celebrity guests, as they encourage listeners to give their support.
The week will culminate in a 10-mile sponsored bike across London – Hero Ride – from Blackheath to Kensington on Sunday 2nd June.
A number of auction lots are also being made available.
They include luxury five star holidays, such as a trip to Jordan with business class flights, VIP hospitality at the Henley Regatta and Cartier Polo, plus prizes with a host of LBC 97.3 presenters such as Steve Allen, Ken Livingstone and the newest member of the team – Larry Lamb.
Money raised from LBC 97.3’s Charity Appeal will be given to Help for Heroes and used to support veterans and current military personnel who have been wounded or injured as a result of serving their country.
LBC 97.3 breakfast host Nick Ferrari said: “Can there ever be a more appropriate time to show your support for our brave troops? This year, you must help our heroes – it goes without saying.”
James Rea, LBC 97.3’s Managing Editor, said: “After months in the planning, this is our time to demonstrate our support for the Armed Forces. The recent shocking events in Woolwich mean that next week’s Charity Appeal will be even more poignant.”
Help for Heroes has recently been helped by the former GMG Radio stations where over £1m was raised over a number of “Help for Heroes” days.
