David Terris appointed new Editor for IRN

David Terris is to become the Editor of IRN following Louise Hastings’ appointment as senior news editor at Sky News.

David has been deputy editor of the commercial radio news and sports service for the past 18 months but has worked for Sky News Radio for nine years.

Louise Hastings was appointed Editor two years ago, replacing Andy Ivy.

IRN managing director Tim Molloy: “I have got to know David while he was working as Louise’s deputy and in that time I’ve seen enough to know he will make an excellent IRN Editor.

“In our fortieth year I’m looking forward to working with David to ensure commercial radio continues to receive a world class news service. In the meantime everyone associated with IRN will miss Louise and I wish her the best of luck in her new role.”

davidterrisDavid will take over as editor after the Arqiva Awards next week, at which IRN and Sky News Radio are nominated for Best News Coverage.

David said: “I am excited about leading a creative and ambitious team and relishing the opportunity to build on the success of the past few years. We’ll continue to work closely with our Sky News colleagues to deliver a first class news and sport service to more than 300 radio stations across the UK. Millions of listeners rely on commercial radio for their news and I’m delighted to be a part of an industry full of passion, talent and innovation.”

Sky News has held the contract to provide a news service to the IRN network of radio stations since March 2009.

Head of Sky News, John Ryley, said: “David has been a senior figure in the radio newsroom for some time, showing good editorial judgement and a real passion for radio. He replaces Louise Hastings who has done a great job leading the radio team for the last 2 years.”
