Helen Boaden to outline her radio vision

BBC Director of Radio Helen Boaden will make her first public interview on her vision for radio at this year’s Radio Festival.

Helen was appointed to her current position in April having previously been Director of BBC News and now has overall responsibility for BBC Radios 1, 2, 3, 4, and the BBC digital radio stations 1Xtra, 6Music, BBC 4 Extra, and Asian Network.

The Radio Academy event will also feature Global Radio’s Founder and Executive President Ashley Tabor who’ll be giving an insight into the industry.

Also appearing is talkSPORT Programme Director Liam Fisher, along with Jonathan Wall, Controller of BBC Radio 5 live.

The event is once again taking place at The Lowry Salford Quays, overlooking MediaCityUK, home to 5 live, BBC Radio Manchester and RadioToday.

More names will be confirmed nearer the time by new event chair Chris Burns, who is Head of Group Operations at BBC Radio.

She said: “I’m looking forward to this year’s event, which is once again set in the heart of Salford’s MediaCityUK and promises to maintain the excellent standards set in previous years.”
