Black Country town Oldbury is the new home for the Shropshire and The Black Country service of Free Radio.
The new studio and office facilities make use of 1,500 sq ft of space in Black Country House, Oldbury, recently renovated at a cost of £1.4 m.
Sam & Mark, who present on Free Radio every Sunday morning, carried out the official ribbon cutting today (Thursday). Daily programmes, including the Fresh & Cat breakfast show, now originate live from this new site.
Phil Riley, Chief Executive of Orion Media, the parent company of Free Radio told RadioToday: “This is a great location for one of our Free Radio West Midlands stations. Black Country House is convenient for the whole Black Country & Shropshire patch, and our Birmingham Head Office is also close by.
“These new premises really suit the needs of a 21st Century radio station”.
The station has moved out of Tettenhall Road recently, but not before taking a piece of wall with them.
Free Radio Shropshire & Black Country, previously known as Beacon Radio, launched originally in Wolverhampton in 1976 and has been based at 267 Tettenhall Road ever since.
