New group roles created at Bauer Media

Cath Ellington and Steve King have been appointed new positions at Bauer Media, whilst Regional Managing Director for Yorkshire Tracy Eastwood leaves the company after 16 years.

Following on from Graham Bryce’s recent appointment as Group Managing Director, Place, England and Scotland, Cath Ellington is promoted to the newly created role of Group Commercial Director, Place, Northern England and Scotland. Ellington takes on overall responsibility for all local commercial revenues across Place, with immediate effect reporting into Graham Bryce.

Steve King also takes up a new position as Business Development Director for Bauer Radio. Working across the whole radio portfolio, Bauer says Steve will look to deepen the engagement of Bauer’s audiences through the widening of their events strategy and the development of new-to-radio on and off-air projects.

He will take up his new role immediately and will report into Graham Bryce on Place projects and Steve Parkinson on Passion projects.

Dee Ford, Group Managing Director, Radio, Bauer Media, commented: “It is an exciting time for our market leading portfolio of Place radio brands and products and these pivotal new roles will see our brands and talented people aligned to the same goals and objectives. Our commercial and content teams will now be in a position to learn, share and work together to drive forward our ambitious Place strategy, building audiences, reputation, revenue and market share.”

Ford continued: “Cath Ellington has achieved considerable recent success in revitalising Metro Radio, increasing audiences and revenues and brings an outstanding track record, fantastic commercial acumen and a wealth of experience to this new role. Steve King is one of Bauer’s most experienced and successful leaders and his drive, ambition and ideas for new revenue growth which underpinned the enviable performance at our stations in the North West will now be used to great effect across our whole radio portfolio. I have never been more confident that Place is in great hands.”

On the departure of Tracy Eastwood, Dee Ford said: “I’d like to thank Tracy very much for her unswerving passion, energy and leadership over the last 16 years. She has been a fantastic ambassador for Bauer and I know that there are many people across our business who will credit Tracy for bringing them into the company and for creating an environment where they have been able to thrive. We wish her very well for the future.”
