Bauer appoints Place Marketing Director

Catherine Gort has been appointed Marketing Director for Bauer Media’s Place Portfolio, Northern England and Scotland, with immediate effect.

In her new role, Catherine will be part of the Place senior management team led by Graham Bryce, MD of Place Northern England and Scotland, working alongside Owen Ryan, Group Content Director and Cath Ellington, Commercial Director.

As Marketing Director, Catherine will work with the management team on brand consistency across programming, content and editorial in addition to research and insight.

Catherine will also oversee charity brand marketing in conjunction with Sally Aitchison, MD Cash for Kids, integrating Bauer Media’s charity and station-led activities.

This move sees the regional marketing teams brought together under Catherine’s leadership. Therefore, Dom Munnelly, Regional Marketing Director for the North East, Sarah Smith, Marketing Manager for Viking FM, Jo Driver, Regional Marketing Director for the North West and Deborah Tracey, Commercial Marketing Manager Aire and Hallam FM, will now report to Catherine.

Anne-Marie Lavan, Group Marketing Director at Bauer Media, said: “Catherine is an outstanding marketer – she is a strategic thinker who has a real appreciation for how brands interact with their audiences. She combines a robust analytical approach with a strong creative instinct. I am confident that she will make a huge contribution to the Place Portfolio audience growth strategy going forward.”

Catherine has worked at Bauer Media for four years where she has led the brand positioning for the Place Portfolio as Head of Radio Marketing. She also led the communications plan on major place-wide artist tour broadcasts including U2, Coldplay & Rihanna.
