Listeners will get the chance to choose the tracks played by Franz Ferdinand at the upcoming BBC Radio 6 Music Festival.
The station wants listeners to vote online for the song they would most like to see the Indie-rock band perform live. They can select from a list of 15 singles, album tracks and B sides which span the band’s four album career. The six songs that receive the most votes will be the opening six songs to be played by the band when they perform at the 6 Music Festival on the 1st March.
The results won’t be revealed until Franz Ferdinand perform at the Festival, so listeners will have to tune in 6 Music’s coverage of the event to find out if their favourite track made the cut.
Alex Kapranos, lead vocals and guitar Franz Ferdinand, said: “We’ve never let the fans choose the set list before. It wasn’t my idea. Could be a total disaster. Could be amazing. Let’s find out.”
The feature was announced on Steve Lamacq’s show yesterday. He said: “BBC Radio 6 Music is known for giving its listeners the music that they want to hear so allowing the fans to have their say in selecting Franz Ferdinand’s set list is totally in keeping with the ethos of the station.”
The inaugural BBC Radio 6 Music Festival takes place on Friday 28th February and Saturday 1st March 2014 at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester.
