BBC sets up Women in News support group

A new network initiative designed to increase the representation of women on air has been set up by the BBC.

Global Women in News, or GWiN for short, will represent women on-air and in senior editorial positions, and also support women in developing their careers in the BBC.

The BBC, already supporters of the Sound Women initiative which has hundreds of members and a number of training and networking events, will use GWin to focus on both personal and business learning and development for women within the organisation.

Its aim is to help women build networks across the division, the BBC and the industry. GWiN will be dedicated to enhancing the BBC work environment with the goal of attracting, developing and recognizing women at all levels and grades.
