107.6 Juice FM Liverpool has launched a brand new one hour show every week day dedicated to Twitter generated listener requests.
In an hour of non stop music, commercial free between 2pm and 3pm each day, Juice will take requests via Twitter under #juicetwittermix and use the social media platform to dedicate the songs.
@Juice_FM has 76,000 followers and has tweeted almost 55,000 times since joining Twitter in February 2009.
Programme Controller, Mark Kaye said “Twitter has fast become a major platform we use to interact with our listeners. Over 90% of our music requests come via social media with Twitter leading the way by far. It speaks volumes on the amount of interaction we have with our listeners that we can dedicate a full hour to what they tell us on Twitter”
Station Director Graham Sarath said “It’s great to have 100% control of our music policy and schedules here at Juice. We don’t network and we don’t get told what to play or when to play it. Giving an entire hour to Twitter could be a risky move but we trust our listeners who obviously have great taste!”
Bauer Media’s Kerrang! Radio has also launched a “social media powered radio show” – once a week on a Monday night for one hour where listeners will hear the most requested songs of the week made on Twitter.
